MD 45 (York Road) Interchange

I-695 (Baltimore Beltway)/MD 45 (York Road) Interchange Project, located in Towson, Maryland, consists of the replacement of the York Road Bridge and roadway safety improvements along York Road and the Baltimore Beltway including interchange modifications and widening along the westbound roadway of I-695 and extending streetscape enhancements on York Road from Fairmount Avenue to Cavan Drive. RK&K’s responsibilities have included preparing final contract plans, specifications and cost estimates. Working with subconsultants, design services consisted of roadway design, water resources including storm drainage, stormwater management and erosion/sediment control; signing, signals and pavement markings; landscaping; bridge and retaining walls design; shop drawing reviews; and consultation during construction. Complex maintenance of traffic schemes were developed for the replacement of the existing bridge and the removal of several ramp movements. Regulatory permits and approvals included: MDE Soil Erosion and
Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, Non-tidal Wetlands and water quality certification, NPDES Permit, ACOE Section 404 Clean Water Act, DNR Reforestation Law, and DNR Roadside Tree Law.
