Montebello Filtration Plants 1 and 2, Phase VI
Baltimore, Maryland

Photo06RK&K was selected by the City of Baltimore to design a major upgrade to the City's Montebello Filtration plants. The City operates two water treatment plants that were constructed during the early part of the 20th century. These facilities treat water from a reservoir and a river water intake and have a maximum combined treatment capacity of 360 mgd. A major focus of this project is the replacement of 60 mono-media sand filters with a new modern filtration complex that will filter settled water from both treatment plants. Other planned upgrades include new rapid mix facilities, new lime, polymer, primary coagulant chemical feed and storage systems and associated instrumentation and control systems. RK&K is providing both preliminary design and final design services for this project.
