Carroll Creek Flood Control Petroleum
Contamination Investigation
Frederick, Maryland
During a Flood Control and Municipal Park project numerous undocumented abandoned underground storage tanks (UST'S) were discovered. As a result of removal, large quantities of petroleum contaminated soil needed to be addressed. To save disposal costs, RK&K with the cooperation of Maryland Department of Environment, performed an extensive site investigation to delineate the level of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. RK&K remained on-site for approximately six months so lower level contaminated soil could be identified and treated locally to acceptable levels and reused avoiding high-cost overruns.
